From St. Thomas, Jamaica to Toronto: The Story Behind 9 Mile
Chris and Sasha grew up as childhood neighbours in St. Thomas, Jamaica. Life took them both to Toronto, where they reconnected and built 9 Mile together.
The Name
Nine Mile, St. Ann, Jamaica — Bob Marley's birthplace. The name is a tribute to the culture and the island that shaped everything. It's not just a restaurant name. It's a reminder of home.
What They Built
Together they created the entire menu — the 8-variety stuffed patties, oxtail quesadillas, the Heavy Plate combos, the Lamb Box, and the loaded mac & cheese. Sasha created the famous house patty sauce that customers can't stop talking about. Toronto's diversity inspired them to push Jamaican food further — fusing island tradition with international flavours.

Why It Matters
9 Mile isn't a franchise. It's not corporate. It's two people from Jamaica who built something real on Bloor Street West. The food is personal. The culture is loud. And every plate that goes out carries a piece of where they came from.
